Comparing the Effects of Emotion-focused Couple Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on Marital Conflict and Emotion Regulation

Objective: Marital conflict can be described as the state of tension or stress between couples. Accordingly, couples who are unable to regulate their negative emotions experience fragile relationships. This study aimed compare effects Emotion-Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) and Acceptance Commitment (ACT) on Cognitive Emotion Regulation (CER) strategies marital conflict. Methods: The sample included 28 married women were randomly assigned EFCT ACT groups. questionnaire battery Questionnaire Conflicts, Questionnaire, Second Edition Structured Clinical Interview for Diagnostic Statistical Manual Mental Disorders (DSM) (SCID-II). Results: result Independent Samples t-test indicated no difference in pretest scores participants. However, significant differences determined groups posttest phase (P<0.001). Additionally, Paired results revealed (P<0.001) (P<0.028 conflict, P<0.001 adaptive CER strategies, & P<0.031 non-adaptive strategies) Moreover, was clinically more effective than ACT. effect size measured 2.33 0.83; respecting these values computed 2.89 2.02 well 0.88, respectively.
